I have celiac disease and is looking for a gluten free multi-vitamin.?

Posted on January 26, 2010.

Centrum and one a day would not give a definite answer if their multi-vitamin is gluten free or not. Big help. Anybody know of a %100 gluten free multi-vitamin?

If you go to a biggish health store (Holland and Barrett in the UK, for example) they will have rows and rows of multivits to choose from. Just look on the labels. There will be “gluten free” on there somewhere if ok, or else the allergy advice will NOT mention gluten. Any that don’t bother to put this information on are obviously not that concerned about their customers’ health – not a good sign for a nutritional supplement manufacturer.

Personally, I use Holland & Barrett’s Super One, a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement which also includes other things, such as bioflavonoids, a really comprehensive supplement.

If you are excluding gluten, for whatever reason, it’s likely you will also be missing out on certain minerals, not just vitamins, so I always advise that you look out for a really good multivitamin and mineral supplement (if selenium is in there, it’s most likely a good mix), rather than just the vitamins, AND take a fish oil supplement – these are so good for you, great insurance for your health.

Nature Made vitamins say “no gluten” on the label. I have taken the Multi Complete and the Multi for women vitamins. I am not sure if all of their products are gluten free, but I would check the label or call their company. They are available in drug stores.

Here you go:
http://www.glutenfreemall.com/catalog/glutenfree-vitamins-c-65.html?osCsid=ottub25sfrs9ehdekrdp4obn97

ELISA tested, made specifically for gluten allergic/intolerants.
I order all the time from them, this is a secure site.
p.s. watch out for Wegmans vitamins. Their Bcomplex had BARLEY GRASS listed on the label that said “no gluten ingredients”. Rigghhhtt…..
and when I called them on it, suddenly the label read “from a vegetable source” the very next month. No idea if they changed suppliers or what, but after that, I will NEVER trust them!
