My son is allergic to blueberries and I know this because I gave him some baby food that had blueberries in it for the first time and within 6 hours he had quarter-sized hives all over his arms and legs. However, it is the only thing he is allergic to at this time and the doc said it’s probably gonna go away.

some symptoms of a food allergy are: a rash in diaper area or on face or hives on the body, gassiness and/or bloating, diarrhea and irritability. to my knowledge, constipation is not an indication of a food allergy, but definitely of too little water in her system. as well, it take the body time to adjust to the addition of foods other than breastmilk/formula. my daughter got (and still gets) really constipated with her solids so i have started giving her water in a sippy cup… it seems to help

Actually, it would be the opposite. Diarrhea can indicate food allergies. Also a rash or hives.

Constipation would be more apt to indicate not enough water in her formula or not getting enough to drink or getting too much juice to drink.

It would be like any normal allergic reaction. Swelling of the throat or difficulty breathing, rashes, hives, fevers, redness or flushed appearance!

My 2mth old daughter is allergic to milk protein and soya – her symptoms included constipation which was intermittent with dioarrhea – it was confirmed with a simple skin prick test – see your doctor and ask to be confirmed to a paed

constipation is not usually a sign of a food allergy. a food allergy shows up as a runny nose, a rash, hives, difficulty breathing and with my son one of his eyes would turn red & swell some. and sometimes vomiting. but that’s usually more of a sensitivity than an allergy. like being lactose intolerant. which some people call being allergic, but is totally different.

try to cut back on dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt). dairy causes constipation.
